Samsung MagicINFO on the QMC: licensing, VXT and setup

The player is already in the screen. What you pay for, if anything, is the system that tells it what to play. Here's how the options compare and which one we'd pick for 1, 10 or 100 screens.

Four ways to run content on a QMC

CrownTV is our install and software arm; the $20 figure is from its published pricing.

MagicINFO Server: when it makes sense

MagicINFO Server is Samsung's original management software. You install it on a Windows machine, open the ports, and every panel on your network checks in. It's the right tool for a hospital or a school district whose IT department won't allow screens to talk to an outside cloud. It's the wrong tool for a five-location restaurant group with no IT person, because when the server's Windows updates break something on a Friday night, the menus stop changing and nobody knows why.

Licensing is per display and usually bought once, with optional support renewals. Prices depend on the edition and quantity, so we quote it with the screens.

Samsung VXT: what most new buyers pick

VXT is Samsung's cloud replacement for the old hosted MagicINFO. There's no server to keep alive. You build playlists in a browser, schedule them by screen or group, and push them out. The QMC's Tizen 7.0 player supports it out of the box.

For a business with 2 to 20 screens and no IT team, this is where we point people first. At about $150 a year per screen through a reseller like CDW, it costs less than a single service call to fix a dead PC behind a TV.

Setting up MagicINFO or VXT on a QMC

  1. Network first. Plug in Ethernet if you can. Wi-Fi works, but a wired drop is what keeps a 24/7 screen reliable. Give each panel a DHCP reservation so you can find it later.
  2. Update the firmware from the panel's support menu before anything else. Out-of-the-box firmware is often a few versions behind.
  3. Pick the player source. In the panel settings, choose MagicINFO (for MagicINFO Server or USB) or VXT. Menu names shift a little between firmware versions.
  4. Point it at the server, or pair it. For MagicINFO Server, enter the server address under the server network settings, then approve the panel in the server's device list. For VXT, the panel shows a pairing code; enter it in your VXT account.
  5. Set on/off timers. Even on a 24/7-rated QMC, turning screens off when the building is empty cuts power use (a QM55C draws about 154 W typical) and extends panel life.

Buying the panels and the licenses together? We quote both on one PO. Start with a quote, or buy a single QM55C at $1,199 to test with first.

Samsung MagicINFO: questions

Is Samsung MagicINFO free?

The player side is. Every QMC ships with the MagicINFO/Tizen player built in and can play USB content and its own schedule at no cost. Managing screens from a server or the cloud (MagicINFO Server or VXT) is licensed per display.

What is the difference between MagicINFO and VXT?

MagicINFO Server is software you install and run on your own Windows server. VXT is Samsung's newer cloud service: nothing to host, you log in from a browser and pay a subscription per screen.

Does the QMC support Samsung VXT?

Yes. QMC runs Tizen 7.0, which supports the VXT player. You pair each panel with your VXT account using an on-screen code.

Do I need a separate media player for MagicINFO?

No. The player is inside the QMC. An external player is only needed if you use software that has no Tizen app.

How much does a VXT license cost?

Samsung sells VXT through resellers, per display, per year. CDW listed VXT CMS Standard (1 year, 1 display) at $150 when we checked on October 22, 2026. We quote VXT and MagicINFO licenses with the panels.

Can I schedule different content by time of day?

Yes, in MagicINFO Server, VXT and most third-party systems. A typical restaurant setup swaps breakfast and lunch menus at 11:00 automatically.
