Where the QM50C fits
People pick the 50 for one reason: a wall section that's 46 or 47 inches wide. The QM50C is 44.3 inches across. The QM55C is 48.7. We've measured a lot of alcoves between columns, door frames and soffits where that four inches decided the order.
The other case is a menu board where the line forms 12 to 15 feet back. A 43 gets tight at that distance for small type, and three 55s won't fit over most counters. Three 50s side by side are 11 feet wide.
Price is the thing to know. Right now the QM50C sells for $49 less than the QM55C. When the gap is that small and the wall allows it, we tell people to take the 55: same 500 nits and 24/7 rating, VA panel with 4000:1 contrast instead of IPS at 1200:1, and 21 percent more screen area. When the wall doesn't allow it, the 50 is the right panel and you aren't giving much up.
