Where the QM85C fits
The Victoria's Secret flagship at 640 Fifth Avenue runs 15 Samsung displays, a mix of QM85Cs and 98s, synchronized in groups of three and turned to portrait around the champagne bar and the VIP seating. Three 85s side by side in portrait span almost 11 feet and read as one wall of content, without the cost of a video wall.
That's the main use for the 85: a big single image for a space where people stand 15 to 25 feet away. Lobbies with high ceilings, showroom end walls, auditorium side screens, a church foyer. Below 12 feet it's too much screen; viewers end up turning their heads.
Plan the install around the weight. The panel is 92.4 lb and the box about 119 lb. It's 75 inches wide, so check door and elevator clearances, and plan for three people on a high wall. The VESA pattern is 600 × 400. Samsung's data also lists 330 W typical power draw, a big step up from the 75's 214.5 W, so put it on a circuit that isn't already feeding a coffee machine.
Should you buy two 65s instead? Sometimes. Two 65s cost less than one 85 and give you separate content zones. One 85 gives you an unbroken image. If the content is video or photography, take the 85. If it's information in sections, take two smaller panels.
